This is a “plan ahead” recipe from the South Jersey Chapter of the American Herbalist Guild to help relieve the symptoms of a head cold.
- 1 quart jar and lid
- 16 ounces of Organic Honey (preferably local)
- 16 ounces of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 30 sprigs of Mint
- 30 sprigs of Thyme
- 3 springs of Catnip
- 2 small Hot Peppers
Let rest in a dark cool place for one month.
Take one tablespoon to help relieve congestion.
Optional ingredients: Garlic, Horseradish, and Oregano
Benefits of Catnip

Catnip is useful in settling the stomach, as a sedative, and a fever reducer. It has a pleasant taste, and is good to take for colds, flu, and fever in children, especially when mixed with elderflower and honey.
