I have found the following recipe to work well for my little ones when they have an earache.
- 1 diced garlic clove
- ¼ cup olive oil
Warm the olive oil and garlic over medium heat for 3 minutes, and steep together until cool.
Strain out the garlic.
Tilt the head at 180 degrees, drop a few drops into the ear canal using a small dropper. Let the oil sit for approximately 1 minute allowing the oil the penetrate the ear canal.
Tilt the ear back to normal position and wipe off any excess oil.
I have found this works best when done right before bed. The remedy can be given to children twice a day.
Store is a cool dark place.
For adults, steam inhalations work well for earaches. German Chamomile (not Roman) Elderflowers, and or Lemon Balm sooth irritation and relieve pain.
Eating yogurt or taking a probiotic hastens recovery from an ear infection.
Green tea helps children with viral infections, and those who suffer from allergies or asthma. *Do not take green tea within one hour of taking medications.
Apply hot compresses to the scalp, just behind the ear.
Vitamin B is essential for healing and immune function. A sublingual form is recommended.
A Manganese deficiency has been linked to ear disorders.
Zinc quickens immune response and aids in reducing infection.
Vitamin C boost immunity and fights infection. Use an esterified or buffered form such as Ester-C or calcium zinc ascorbate.
