Palo Santo’s name means Holy or Sacred Wood.
Palo Santo is used in curing ceremonies by the Shamans of the Andes region. It comes from the same family as Frankincense and is found in South America. Like Frankincense, Palo Santo is known as a spiritual oil.
In my home I cleanse the air of negative energy with Sage, then I light a Palo Santo stick to bring in the positive energy. It is also said to bring good luck.
In South America, Palo Santo is used to repel mosquitos, relieve fevers, skin infections, and skin diseases. It is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral.
When diffused, the Palo Santo essential oil reduces airborne contaminants, and can induce relaxation.
This is one of my favorite essential oils, as I use it as perfume.
